Within the Hambalang Quarry we took aerial photos of reclamation sites which we’ve already surveyed and had multiple land uses. Along with our friend from Aerospace Engineering, our team managed to take photos of 29,5 hectares of reclamation areas within 3 hours. This method is very helpful in determining the location and quantity of sampling points in each land use within a reclamation site.
The output of this method is a map that are then classified based on their land use, which are cassava fields, mahogany forests, mixed vegetation forest, and rice paddies. These photos are processed using the ArgGIS 10.3 program. Other than classification of land uses, this data is useful for quantifying other data such as canopy cover and slope of land.
